Hello bloggers! Me and my group were looking around for music for our film. Since this will be a horror movie, we were looking for something like rock, and with some yelling. Just so we can recreate that chaotic vibe within the film. We aimed for artists like Radiohead, and deftones.
We came across the song Back To School by the music group Deftones. It was perfect! Chaotic, nice sound, good vocals, just amazing. So I looked up who owned the rights to that song. It turned out to be licensed by Warner Records. I've sent them an email if I could use this song for our film. However, we still haven't received a reply. Also, their company seems hard to reach. It’s email isn’t public, nor phone number is present. Which means I could have possibly sent an incorrect email to the wrong receiver. So what would one do in this situation? Use copyright free music.
Copyright music isn't necessarily bad but it can take time to look for one that is cache and has meaning. Although it is disappointing to not be able to use the music we liked, we still have hope for a response. Yet, this film will come out amazing either way. But that is all for now.
